The new iPad – 5 Things we Hate and Love!

Boom! It’s Wednesday Morning in the US and past Midnight in Hong Kong, the new iPad (3) was just announced and we on www.AppleBun.com have compiled a complete review and list of what’s new! We got Retina Display (expected), 4G LTE speed (expected) and Chip Upgrade (expected). So no question, it’s a fantastic device and we cant wait to hold one in our own hands (iPad 3 Release Dates for Hong Kong here), but until then we will have to live with the specs and features, as given from Apple.

1. Some Stuff that bothers us

- Hong Kong didnt get the 4G LTE version (yet). Yes, the Apple store in Hong Kong is only selling the Wifi only odel, which is a first timer, read up on why and the details here.

- 5MP Camera? Common, even my Nokia has more

- Thicker and heavier? Ok, I understood we got some new stuff going on under the hood, but making a device that is heavier and bigger then its precesor, that’s another first timer

2. Available in Hong Kong first

Now lets start with the good things, the first time since we’ve seen Apple product launches gone big, Apple releases the new iPad at the same time as in the US and other European countries. And as we have an ongoing trademark fight in China, we will probably see millions of mainlanders flocking IFC and the Apple store again. All the other countries:

March 16th: United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia.

March 23th: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.

3. Same Prices Better Models

We have the prices confirmed via the Hong Kong Apple Store, and as expected nothing has changed here. We get the new iPad with better configuration for the same price as the iPad 2 previously, even better, the price for the iPad 2 has dropped to significant 3088HK$ (16GB + Wifi) and 4088HK$ (16GB + Wifi and 3G).

4. Upgrades – Retina Display, Chip, RAM…

As there is nothing really “new” about the new iPad, we gotta focus on whatever we have right now, that leaves us with a couple of fine nice things. We got a Retina Dislpay which is supposed to be ultra sharp, we got a new A5X chip, (most likelt) 1GB of RAM, a 5MP Camera. 5. The “new iPad” isn’t really that “new”

To come to terms with what we’ve seen and heard over the last hours, I must say, we at Applebun.com are a bit dissapointed, for calling a device “The New..” , you would really expect something new, but ehy, i cant spot a single new feature that is actually “new” and not just “upgraded”. The heptic display, button -less front, 128GB iPad, all just dust in the wind.
